  1. I know there will be an obituary - but I have been following the blog since the beginning and there could be no greater obituary than to review how Calli handled her illness. And to see how her faith grew through it. The blog has almost become part of my devotions. I count it a privilege to have been able to pray and praise with you all and for you all. And will continue to do so. Hopefully the rest of us will learn by example and realize that life is tenuous & precious. Her work on earth is done and she did run the race and has now crossed the finish line. God bless all who are grieving - those who knew her & those who knew her only through her illness. There is a mighty warrior in heaven with a new body and no more pain. PTL. - LOIS

  2. I could not agree more with the above comments from Lois. To all of the Derstine Family; thank you for allowing all of us to be a part of your family by sharing your triumphs and tragedies; and make no mistake, Calli has triumphed! What an amazing girl! And an amazing family! My thoughts will be with you always.

  3. I just want to say how encouraged in the Lord I was today at the services for Calli. As we contemplate the tragedy the family has endured, many wonder how you bear up under the sorrow- threefold in so little time.

The third song that was sung (in a list of Calli's favorites) was "Blessed be your Name." The first one standing was Calli's mother, Lucy, with her hands raised to the heavens followed by the rest of her family. I wept. The picture will be forever imprinted on my memory. A testimony of God's mercy and grace and faithfulness in the midst of the greatest of pain and sorrow.

We love you. Our prayers will follow you in the difficult days ahead.
