Alex's Lemonade

We are so humbled and honored that Alex's Lemonade Stand honored Calli's fight with  their FUND A CURE project at the Great Chef's event in Philadelphia that was on her birthday- they were able to raise $71,000 to fund a brain tumor research grant in her name.  HOW AWESOME!

Please support Alex's Lemonade Stand, have one in your neighborhood this summer!

Thank you to everyone who supported the 2012 Great Chefs Event on June 12 helping Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and the Vetri Foundation for Children surpass our $1 million fundraising goal! More than 1,200 guests attended the sold out event featuring tastings of signature dishes from renowned chefs and mixologists across the country, who all assembled in Philadelphia to donate their time and talent.

Despite downpours outside, inside there was an outpouring of generosity within the spacious and chic venue – Urban Outfitters Headquarters in the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Bighearted guests entered into bidding wars for exclusive live auction items including the highest grossing item of the night – a trip for 6 to Piemonte, Italy with award-winning chefs Marc Vetri and Jeff Michaud that went for $35,000! Additionally, throughout the evening guests electronically bid on fantastic silent auction items contributing to the fun and philanthropic atmosphere.

There were also emotional and poignant moments throughout the event including a personal tribute to Alex Scott by her mom Liz that provided everyone with insight into the tenacity and maturity of her daughter, as well as her ability to simply be a little girl.
Additionally, chef Franklin Becker took to the stage during the Fund a Cure portion of the evening to honor childhood cancer hero Calli Derstine on what was her 15th birthday. Calli was originally scheduled to speak, but is fighting an aggressive form of brain cancer and was not well enough to attend. The guests honored Calli the best way possible by raising enough money to fund a brain tumor research grant in her name.

A special thanks to Executive Chef Sponsor Urban Outfitters, Inc., and Chef Sponsors The Emerson Group and Practice Management Advisors, as well as all our of sponsors, supporters and guests for helping us make a difference in the lives of children. See you next year!

The Quakertown Starbucks held their Alex's Lemonade Stand in honor of Calli, here are some pictures.  Calli also got a wonderful pile of well wishes from their customers.
